The Research Administrator serves in an administrative/professional capacity compiling, processing and arranging data that interacts and feeds into a relational database. The
incumbent maintains a complex system of files, records, and handles highly confidential information in relation to the research activities of the university; may recommend policy and procedure changes to the above processes.

Minimum:

Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, computer literacy for data analysis and written reports. Must be able to work closely with others
and have reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills.

Mental: Required to have an understanding of policies, procedures, compliance, and contract principles. Performs a variety of duties following established
policies and procedures. Problems are generally solved by selecting from approved alternatives based on past practices, however, solutions may require modifying procedures and methods to address new conditions. Supervision is available to assist in setting
priorities and objectives, and to assist in problem resolution.

Under general direction of the Contracts Manager and the Associate Provost, the Contracts Officer will coordinate contract and agreement issues with principal investigators, sponsors, relevant
federal agencies, the Innovation Transfer Center and the Office of the General Counsel. The incumbent will prepare and negotiate a wide variety of agreements, with industry and others, such as research and collaboration agreements, consortium agreements, teaming
agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, CRADAS and material transfer agreements. Additionally, the incumbent will develop creative solutions to complex contract problems and resolve issues by negotiating solutions that respect the policies and needs
of each party; employ effective problem-solving skills including strong analytical skills sufficient to conduct comprehensive analyses; lead special projects (e.g., for example organizing workshops on intellectual property issues); and understand the role
research plays in education and research mission of the university.
