TITLE: SENIOR GRANTS AND CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATOR

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists faculty, administrators and staff with all aspects of proposal preparation and submission; Drafts, reviews, analyzes, and negotiates and recommends acceptance of various agreements issued to California State University Fullerton (CSUF), for acceptance by the CSU Fullerton Auxiliary Services Corporation (ASC).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assists faculty, administrators and staff in interpretation and clarification of sponsor guidelines; proposal budget development and review; completion of required sponsor forms, assurances and certifications; collection of necessary or pertinent data, as appropriate; compilation of and review of proposal components for accuracy, consistency and compliance with sponsor guidelines.

• Ensures completion of appropriate internal approvals of proposals, prior to submission of proposals.

• Serves as lead/primary contact for selected Colleges and Units in all pre-award and some post-award matters.

• Drafts and/or reviews contracts and subcontract requests from faculty and staff members and/or director.

• Negotiates or clarifies terms and conditions with sponsors to ensure consistency with University and ASC policies, as well local, state, and federal laws.

• Researches and applies rules, laws and policies concerning higher education contracts and subcontracts.

• Maintains contact with sponsors to facilitate follow through of proposals and award, and changes/corrections to award documents, as appropriate.

• Ensures compliance and review procedures are initiated by advising faculty of applicable laws, University regulations and sponsor policies.

• Assists and contributes to the development of procedures for processing and submission of proposals; review, issuance and negotiation of various agreements issued to the university for acceptance by the ASC; and other pre-award activities.

• Assists in preparation of necessary documents and other logistics for meetings, workshops and various events.

• Ensures maintenance of proposal files, back-up documentation, and other pertinent records.

• Advises Director & Assistant Director of Grants and Contracts of potential problems in grant applications or contractual documents.

• Assists with administrative duties by compiling information and maintenance of databases for all contract/grant proposals as well as awards.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in research administration, preferably in a pre-award office, at a university, hospital or non-profit institution.

• Experience in proposal submission, and in contract review/negotiation.

• Word Processing, spreadsheets, database, Internet and other computer applications.

• Ability to work well with faculty and staff under pressure to meet short deadlines and multiple projects.

• Must have strong negotiation skills.

• Must have excellent writing and oral skills.
