Scott,

You enter the Federal identifier number…Mark it as a change corrected on the 424 and you’re good to go.

Subject: [RESADM-L] How to correct this eCommons error?

Good morning everyone,

I just submitted an NIH grant for a faculty member that got kicked back with an error. It was a resubmission, and I failed to input the previous submission's NIH IC/serial number in 4.a. on the SF424.

So, I obviously have to pull it and resubmit it as a Changed/Corrected application. To do this, you are supposed to input the Grants.gov tracking number in 4.a.

The SF424 instructions state: "If this is a continuation, revision, or renewal application, enter the assigned Federal Identifier number (for example, award number) --even if submitting a Changed/Corrected application."

Is the above also true for a resubmission? In short, what do I input in 4.a.? The IC/serial number of the original 'new' application last year, or the Grants.gov tracking number I just got when submitting the resubmission?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Scott

P.S. - This is why I tell faculty to have things ready 3 business days prior to deadline!
