Colleagues,

We are currently working on a nationwide project where funding is set to expire late Spring 2014.  Because the project requires sustaining funds, we are investigating a variety of business models and methods to accomplish this.  Our current recommendation – which is supported by our funding agency – is to establish a scientific non-profit that can accept donations and apply for foundation funds and grants to support the work.

Does anyone have experience with this?  I’d love your insight as this is a first for us.  Please feel free to contact me offline.
