Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Grants Development Specialist will provide guidance and expertise in all areas related to the submission of sponsored projects for the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Program (NACS). In addition, the Grants Development Specialist will be responsible for developing innovative ideas that will help NACS increase the number of proposals submitted by the faculty.

The Grants Development Specialist’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Managing/coordinating (including writing and editing) preparation of complex, multi-investigator research and training grant proposals submitted to federal and private funding sources in conformance with proposal guidelines. 
2. Providing assistance to and collaborating with individual researchers (faculty and students) in preparing grant proposals. 
3. Identifying federal, foundation, and private source funding opportunities that support basic and translational research for individual NACS members as well as multi-investigator faculty teams. 
4. Identifying multi-disciplinary faculty teams within NACS and fosters submission of pilot and larger scale proposals (e.g., Program Project grants, training grants, and center grants).
5. Developing, managing, and presenting workshops and training sessions forNACS faculty and students on topics related to grantsmanship. 
6. Assisting NACS Director and faculty in preparing professional quality figures and slides intended to promote NACS’s scientific and educational programs to external audiences.
7. Analyzing the financial trends in the Program related to sponsored project funding. Creating reports for use by the Director that clearly demonstrate the Program’s progress in achieving its goals to increase external funding and improving the success rate of faculty members in receiving external funding.
