Financial Manager, Dept. of Biomedical Engineering, Boston University

 

The BU Department of Biomedical Engineering is looking for an experienced grants manager to join our financial administration team to provide pre- and post- award management for a subset of BME faculty members and their associated research labs.  Pre-award administration involves working closely with faculty and lab members in the identification, development and submission of proposals for sponsored research.  Post-award management of related financial accounts includes authorization and approval expenditures, a monthly review financial reports, forecasting financial scenarios, and making sound recommendations for spending plans. The financial manager will provide expert customer service to a broad customer base on a wide range of pre- and post-award, sponsored and compliance issues and may be asked to represent the assigned faculty in communication with university administrative offices and federal and private funding agencies for sponsored research.  The Financial Manager may also have the opportunity to supervise junior financial administrators.

 

Requirements for this position include at least 5 years of grants administration experience, and a high degree of judgment, problem solving, and communication skills.  Additional Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree preferred. Working knowledge of the OMB circulars; NIH policies and procedures; NSF policies, procedures and FASTLANE. The ideal candidate is self-directed, can prioritize duties and meet multiple deadlines.
