I would like to hear off-list from anyone who has applied for an NIH F31 grant where the PI (grad student) used a disability as eligibility.

1)      Does the diversity/underrepresentation mandate apply to the disabled?  Is it assumed?  Must we address that in the certification letter?

2)      Have you ever seen such an applicant deemed ineligible?  Perhaps because the specific disability was not felt to be an “impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities”?

Thanks

CH
