This is a professional position responsible for providing proactive support for research development activities for Stephen F. Austin State University. Responsible for working with faculty and staff across campus to support and encourage expansion of restricted research activities; identifying potential external funding sources for research; assisting with the management and reporting of Research Development Fund expenditures and activities; and promoting and facilitating the dissemination of information about research activities on the SFA campus. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This is a security-sensitive position. Reports to the director of Research & Sponsored Programs.  This position is funded through August 31, 2013. Continuation is contingent upon alternate funding.
QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is preferred. 

·         Two years of related experience is required, preferably in a higher education or other research-related entity.

·         Experience researching funding opportunities or related Internet searches is preferred. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Identifies, analyzes and recommends sources of potential external research funding. 
2. Distributes funding notices to the appropriate individuals. 
3. Advises and counsels faculty and campus departments regarding external funding matters and internal procedures. 
4. Assists in the development of grant proposals for research. 
5. Reviews applications for adherence to funding agency specifications and SFA policies and procedures. 
6. Monitors activities supported by the Research Development Fund. 
7. Assists with report development. 
8. Develops content for department website to disseminate information about research activities at SFA and to facilitate the grant application process. 
9. Assists SFA research centers to develop strategic goals for research. 
10. Assists in the planning and implementation of research conferences and other outreach activities. 
11. Maintains faculty research interest directory and database.
