The Society of Research Administrators International Western and Midwest Sections are pleased to announce travel awards for members desiring to attend the Western/Midwest Joint Section Meeting in Long Beach, California, May 14 -18, 2011.

This year the Sections have the ability to offer up to four awards in the form of hotel accommodations (up to 3 nights lodging per award) at the conference venue, the Westin Long Beach.  There are two categories for awards:

1.    Newcomer: Two travel awards (one Western participant, one Midwest participant) will be given to individuals who are new members of the Society of Research Administrators (member for less than one year or initiating membership with conference registration).

2.    Established Member:  Two travel awards (one Western participant, one Midwest participant) will be granted to individuals who have been members of the Society of Research Administrators for more than one year.

Each of the nominees (both for Newcomer and Established Member awards) should state why the travel award is necessary to attend the meeting and how their participation in the meeting will benefit him/her and his/her institution in the field of research administration.  For nominations to the Established Member category, additional information about how this award will assist him/her in current or future involvement or volunteering activities with the Society should be included.

To apply for a travel award, access the Online Nomination Form.  One letter of support must be included. By applying online, nomination forms will automatically be sent to Dara Little and Jennie Amison. Nominations will be accepted through March 31st and recipients will be chosen and notified by April 8, 2011.
