Colleagues,

The Navy Medicine Institute is pleased to forward to you an announcement from our colleagues at the Office of Research Integrity, Department of Health and Human Services.

An interactive educational DVD has been developed by DHHS-ORI for ethics/integrity education regarding research misconduct. The full film will be available soon. Below you will find the DHHS website to view the trailer. It is extremely well done and will be a very valuable educational resource.

If you have any questions on the DVD or wish further information, please contact Dr. Sandra Titus, DHHS-ORI Director of Intramural Research at xxxxxx@hhs.gov.

I also encourage you to review other sections of the DHHS-ORI website for further educational resources, information, and opportunities.

Regards,

Dr. Edward Gabriele

Subject: ORI to Release Interactive Movie on Research Integrity

A video simulation on research integrity will be released soon on the ORI web site. In the simulation, research misconduct causes a noted lab to lose funding, creates bad publicity to the university, and eventually causes the withdrawal of a multi-million dollar endowment. In "The Lab," viewers have the opportunity to undo the damage by assuming the roles of a graduate student, post doc, principal investigator, and a research integrity officer and make decisions to prevent misconduct from occurring unnoticed.

We believe that the interactive video will be a great resource for RCR instructors.  To view the introduction to the video, go to http://ori.hhs.gov/TheLab.
