Below is the email we received from our system-to-system submittal portal to grants.gov.
Please be aware that some of your proposals may randomly be rejected today from Grants.gov due to: VIRUSDETECT. A simple resubmission has fixed all of these so far.
We saw a similar issue in late June of this year when a server inside Grants.gov had a problem. We have notified their staff of what seems to be a resurgence of this past problem. We will do our best to keep you all informed as communication transpires.

Grants.gov can’t seem to determine why I was rejected. It was very random in my book, but they would not say to just resubmit. It is confusing, but I bet this is the problem as the other application went through without any problems.

Teri,
We just heard here at the University of Idaho that Grants.gov is experiencing a random VIRUSDETECT error and that resubmissions should take care of the problem. Does that sound like what you were experiencing?

Subject: [RESADM-L] Question
I am appealing to the list as I do not want to have to monitor my email/phone over the holidays. Today I submitted two Talent Search Proposals. These two were VERY similar – the first went through without an issue. Seven minutes later the other one was tagged REJECTION with no errors or other reasons given for the rejection. I called the help desk and as nice as they were they would not guarantee when I would receive an answer (they promptly escalated me to IT). They even suggested I call the Dept of Ed and let them know it could be late (it is due the 28th). I promptly ask if I should just build another application and resubmit, but GG person would not agree that this was a solution.
Has anyone experienced this type of issue and would it be totally wrong if I submitted another application?
Thanks,
Teri
