For folks at
medical schools—how do you handle health insurance for postocs?
One of our
graduates has just gotten an F32 fellowship to postdoc in one of our faculty
members’ labs. Since F32s pay stipends, this person cannot have the
status of employee; similarly, he can’t be a student unless he registers
and pays tuition for at least one credit hour. Those are the only two
statuses recognized by our insurer. Does anybody have a convenient way of
dealing with this?
