Job Title: Development Specialist (open until filled)

Job Responsibilities: Incumbent is responsible for the following: To assist faculty in the processing and submission of research and educational proposals - specifically for electronic proposal submissions; assist in proposal planning, submissions, and follow up; and other tasks associated with proposal development and submission.

A successful background check must be completed for all Central Staff positions prior to hire.  

Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent to a Bachelors degree plus six months to five years professional level experience in a research education services function within an institution of higher education or research institution or closely related experience equal to four years. Experience working with federal, state, corporate, and private funding agencies, ability to speak, read, and write effectively. Good customer service skills, ability to work well with people and establish effective relationships with academic, professional and clerical staff and with representatives of funding agencies. Excellent attention to detail, and ability to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines.

Preferred Experience/Special Skills: Previous experience with: Electronic proposal submission systems; electronic document retrieval systems; working in a university/research institution; computer software programs such as MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, InfoEd. Ability to learn new technology quickly. Knowledge of various funding agency requirements and proposal submission procedures.
Knowledge of San Diego State University Research Foundation, San Diego State University, and California State University system policies and procedures preferred.
Knowledge of federal, corporate, and private funding agencies preferred.  

Working Conditions: Indoor cubicle environment, may need to attend meetings both on- and off-campus.
