Hello everyone,

We have a PI who has travelled about 500 miles to present material at a conference for a federal grant.  She will be presenting tomorrow morning, but has realized that she forgot the power cord to her Dell laptop.  Her department keeps asking if the federal grant can pay for

a) the overnight express mail charges to get her power cord to her or

b) reimburse her for purchasing a new power cord.

I told them that the grant cannot pay for the postage or a new power cord because it is not a reasonable expense.  She should be able to borrow one from someone else at the conference or from the hotel, right? Either expense will be about $100.

Please let me know if you agree or disagree.
