Spaces in the names of attachments did not cause any problems for us, but we avoided any numbers, dashes or odd characters as others seem to have had rejections because of those.

Yes!  At least it said something about FireFault.  It was a problem with the names in the attachments.  The PI had left spaces in them.  Fixed them and it went through fine.  Attachment names can’t have spaces or any odd characters.

Has anyone ever received this "crazy" rejection notice from g.g (HEI grant application)?

Error:Could not invoke service.. Nested exception is org.codehaus.xfire.fault.XFireFault: /Products_Grants_gov/conf/ReceiptTempDirectory/GRANT10316185/RR_OtherProjectInfo_P1.mandatoryFile0_Project Summary/Abstract.pdf (No such file or directory)::Could not invoke service.. Please correct the above error(s) and resubmit your application to Grants.gov.

I've been in contact with 9 different customer service reps over the last week and have gotten various responses and misinformation, but the consensus (including Oscar, the supervisor)is that this is an internal g.g system error and that their system will automatically reprocess the application. Unfortunately, their system still has not reprocessed the application from an original submission on 5/5/09 - one day before the deadline.  It's odd that they tell me not to resubmit because their system will reprocess, yet the message says to correct the error and resubmit - go figure.

Bottom line question - if you've had this rejection notice, does g.g ever actually reprocess the application or is this more smoke and mirrors?

I have this all documented, but am concerned I may be running out of time.  G.g just escalated this to a "High-priority" research request to their IT folks, but said it could take 4 days to get a response.

Thanks,
Rich

We just received a similar email for a grant we submitted on Monday. Grants.gov help desk says we used the wrong version of Adobe - but I highly doubt it. It's the same version we've been using all along with no problems - Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.3 - they agree that this version is supported. Still, we plan to re-download the package and copy all the info in (sigh) and resubmit the proposal today. Not yet sure what we'll say in the letter that will accompany the changed/corrected app - as it is identical to the previous one.
