Position Summary:
In conjunction with the Associate Dean for Research, incumbent
develops and implements research management policy for the UB School of Public
Health and Health Professions (SPHHP) and directs the day-to-day activities of
the office of the Associate Dean for Research.
Provides leadership, guidance and technical training in all aspects of research
administration through the school's centralized research administration unit,
Research Administrative Services (RAS). Directs and oversees proposal
preparation and serves as SPHHP's primary liaison with campus-level Sponsored
Projects Services (a pre- and post-award office). Reviews applications for
external research funding on behalf of the Associate Dean to ensure that
projects are consistent with the programs, objectives and resources of SPHHP
and that documentation of extraordinary resource commitments are in place where
applicable. Solicits and manages annual financial disclosure process and
responds to conflict of interest certification requests on behalf of the Dean.
Manages IFR processes for the school. Establishes and manages databases to
collect and analyze data relating to SPHHP's research enterprise. Develops and
conducts presentations to inform both faculty and staff audiences on, e.g., the
activities of the Research Office, SPHHP's research enterprise, new policies
and procedures, etc. Manages the school-wide research listserv and utilizes it
to instruct and inform to principal investigators and administrative staff.
Carry out other projects as assigned by the Associate Dean for Research.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Education:
BS/BA and experience in a combination of pre-and post-award
research administration.
5 years progressively more complex technical and managerial
experience in any combination of pre- and post-award research administration,
or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Two of these years
must represent experience working directly with faculty (i.e., in an academic
department), preferably in a biomedical/health sciences research intensive
enterprise.
$55,000 - $65,000
