Title:
Pre-Award Grants Specialist
Department:
Office of Grants and Sponsored Research at
I. Identifying and
communicating funding sources information for faculty, administrators and
graduate students.

Conducts
daily review of Federal Register and FEDBIZOPPS
·
Conduct
weekly review of NYSTAR, NIH, Grants.gov, NSF,
US Dept.
of Education, NYS Dept. of Ed and NYC Dept. of Ed grant publications/sites.
·
Conduct
periodic review of funding opportunities databases (InfoED, SPIN, FC Search)
·
Assist
project directors in creating SPIN Profiles and signing up for on-line
notification of grant competitions.
·
Develop
familiarity and stay abreast of departmental/decanal and individual project
director areas of interest (in collaboration with Director and Development
Office)
II.
Proposal Submission Support
·
Act
as University’s co-lead support person for all electronic proposal submission
systems. Will learn systems and assist/train others in their use.
·
Write
and edit grant proposals: coach applicants, read and interpret guidelines,
organize submissions
·
Develop
proposal budgets and budget justifications
·
Provide
support for proposal routing and submissions; review submissions for compliance
with formats required by agency guidelines; monitor electronic submissions, NIH
Just-in-Time, agency inquiries
III.
Campus Education
·
Conduct
campus-wide workshops/activities
·
Update
and maintain pre-award website
·
Assume
primary responsibility for OGSR Bulletin/newsletter or news column in Center
for Teaching and Learning newsletter
IV.
Other
·
Keep
records for Seed Grant/Venture Capital Programs
·
Compile
data for Annual Grants Reception
·
Provide
support to Director on review and routing of Independent Contractor Agreements
and contracts with other institutions
·
Provide
support to Director for reporting on proposal submissions/awards
·
Assist
with implementation of electronic research administration systems
·
Other
duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Two (2) years experience with
sponsored projects desired, preferably at an institution of higher education.
Ability to lead and advise on
emerging information technology needs in the field of Electronic Research
Administration.
Experience in writing and editing
proposals.
Familiarity with use of databases and
other resources for identification of funding sources.
Familiarity with Federal regulations
related to sponsored projects.
Familiarity with NYC Department of
Education contracting process highly desirable.
Knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, MS
Excel, MS Access, MS Powerpoint)
Desire to learn and grow in field and
develop facility with regulations and requirements related to sponsored
projects – re: biohazards, human subjects, laboratory animals, conflict
of interest, etc.
Bachelors’ degree required
