Just happened to run across this earlier this week.  It’s called an R56 award, but you can’t apply for it.  Go to http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/r56.htm

Subject: [RESADM-L] NIH Program Name for Bridging Funds

Good Morning,

The research dean of the med school at my university had a question about an NIH program that awards bridging funds for faculty that just miss the funding line when they were trying to apply for competing renewal applications. Does anyone know the title of this program? I’m searching on COS as creatively as I can and am not finding the program. (It’s a classic “right at the tip of my tongue” example for me.)

Thanks and have a great afternoon,

Laura
