Salary Range: $3,245 - 5,193 / Month

Position Summary: Responsible for grant administration for assigned projects, including review/analysis of terms/conditions of award; evaluate grants/contracts for accuracy/completeness; ensure that no cost time extensions, and technical/financial reports/close-out reports are submitted to the funding agency by appropriate deadlines; provide fiscal analysis of accounting reports to ensure accuracy and prevent deficits/surpluses at project close; work with awarding agencies to resolve problems; review/approve grant expenditures; train/advise PIs concerning grant administration, including compliance/cost allowability requirements of the University and the awarding agency; research/evaluate/develop recommendations and implement policies/procedures; adapt standard University operating procedures to ensure compliance with funder guidelines; work collaboratively with Accounting, Purchasing, Travel, and Internal Audit, and reconcile the policies of SF State, the CSU and outside funders.

Minimum Qualifications: Work Experience:  5+ years of technical and/or administrative work involving study/analysis/recommendation of program administration (three years professional accounting experience may be substituted for experience in grant/contract administration). Knowledge:  university/budget policies/procedures. Specialized Knowledge: policies/procedures/regulations of major Federal/State funding agencies; grant accounting procedures. Skills: advanced technology techniques; proactivity; follow through; creativity; problem resolution; effective verbal/written/interpersonal communications skills. Specialized Skills: knowledge/use of office software, spreadsheet/database applications; create reports/interpret information from PeopleSoft financial management systems (FMS). Abilities: interpret/apply wide variety of policies/procedures relating to/impacting applicable program; analyze data/make accurate projections and use basic statistical techniques; organize/plan work and projects; compile/compose/present reports; maintain effective working relationships at all levels; serve as liaison for organizational unit. Specialized Abilities: plan/organize/coordinate/perform functions of grant administration from a variety of sources; research/evaluate the policies of funders, SF State and the CSU; develop creative solutions; adapt current operating; respond quickly/effectively to the needs of Principal Investigators (PIs)/project staff while ensuring compliance at all levels; represent the Research Office to funding agencies in a professional manner; resolve problems with Program Officer; read/interpret budget/accounting reports and create grant budgets to ensure the feasibility of funded programs; handle a large volume of transactions.

Preferred Qualifications: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college/university in accounting, business, or related field.
