I would be interested in what folks have to say about this.

We have a couple of questions concerning faculty collaborations on proposal submissions. We would like to know what other research offices require in the below circumstances.
1. When you are submitting a proposal, do you ever find that your faculty member has uploaded or attached a letter of collaboration from a faculty member from another university or other organization indicating that they plan to collaborate on the proposal? No funds will be changing hands and in most cases it is simply an exchange of ideas.
In this case, do you require any documentation from the external collaborator's office of research or equivalent?
2. Sometimes the letter of collaboration indicates that the collaborator will be performing some of the project research in his/her own lab. Again no funding will be exchanged.
Do you ask for any documentation from the collaborator's research office or equivalent in the second scenario where actual use of facilities will be involved?
You can email me offline at the below email address if you like.
Thanks
