Duties

The Senior Contract Negotiator II position is responsible to the Associate Director, Office of Sponsored Research. The position negotiates contracts and assists with post-award contract administration. This position also writes and reviews agreements and negotiates with sponsors/subcontractors for the rights in technical data and intellectual property, publication rights, price, payment and billing procedures, title to equipment, travel regulations, and institutional contributions. Reviews and negotiates terms and conditions of award documents to ensure compliance with TEES and TAMUS policies, the law of the Federal Government and the State of Texas, and sponsor guidelines. Assist PI's with the administrative support of research funding and disseminates related federal agency and sponsor information. Prepares correspondence and completes required forms to notify sponsors of the development of new technology. Prepares interim funding requests. Prepares correspondence to sponsors requesting contract modifications as necessary and completes required forms to request the transfer of contracts and grants. Helps with training of new contract administrators. Updates and maintains all copies of Contract Negotiator reference guides. Updates and maintains log of reviewed FAR clauses and Agency FAR Supplements. Assists Director and Associate Director with special projects. Performs other related duties as required or when necessary. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as proficiency using word processing, spreadsheet and database applications with good attention to detail and ability to work productively as part of a team. M-F, 8-5, with overtime as necessary.

Minimum Education

Related bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience (eight years experience with high school graduation or four years with an Associate degree). Designation as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA).

Minimum Experience

8 years of professional experience in contract negotiations and/or project administration in a research administration environment. Experience with complex industrial and collaborative efforts. Experience with EAR and ITAR controlled technologies, human and animal subjects and federal contracting mechanisms with the Federal Acquisition Regulations. Prior TAMUS experience with research administration responsibilities.
