Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director
of the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), responsible for all aspects of pre-award
and post-award administration of federal, state and private grants and
contracts.
Responsibilities and Duties
·
Assists OSP Director in maintaining and fostering a
positive, customer-oriented atmosphere
·
Works effectively as a team member in providing
customer service to the research personnel
·
Provides technical training to OSP Grant and
Contract Specialists
·
Assists Director in the development and conduct of
workshops for research application & management
·
Assists Director in improving/streamlining the grant
& contracting process
·
Assists Director in developing presentations for the
research training
·
Communicates with a diverse constituency in a
courteous, professional demeanor
·
Provides assistance to Director of OSP as needed
Pre-Award
- Coordinates the preparation
and submission of all grant applications for NCCF
- Reviews research proposals for
accuracy of budget, application completeness and adherence to guidelines
- Computes indirect costs for
grant applications
- Ensures compliance to all
applicable laws and regulations related to research awards
- Provides policy interpretation
& guidance relating to grants & contracts with all parties to the
award
- Responsible for current
knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to grant management activities
- Works effectively with both
OSP and research personnel in submission of research applications in
timely manner
Post-Award
- Negotiates and issues subaward
documents
- Maintains database to track
execution of subcontracts
- Maintains detailed hard-copy
files for all awards and subcontracts
- Maintains electronic filing
system for grants and contracts
- Works with Finance to revise
research budgets
- Assures timely submission of
project renewal applications and progress reports
- Provides reminders to
investigators on reporting requirements
- Prepares invoices for
Director's approval
- Stays updated on research
application requirements/revisions issued by sponsors
- Provides investigators with
updated award information when necessary
- Supports closeout requirements
on all NCCF awards
Position Requirements
- BA degree in Business or
Accounting from an accredited college; or equivalent years of related
experience working directly with federal award processing
- 5 years of grants and/or
contracts management experience including budget management and proposal
preparation and federal, review and submission experience; and experience with
applied accounting skills
- Ability to use discretion and
judgment, competent in independent management; work independently within Office
of Sponsored Programs policies and guidelines; ability to organize,
oversee and perform multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Federal
regulations applicable to grants and contracts is mandatory; practical
working experience of NIH/NCI grants regulations
- Knowledge of related grantee
business activities, business communications, and knowledge of accounting
principles
- Experience and knowledge with
government grants and contract applications, budgets, proposal
preparation, review and submission; ability to compose correspondence,
letters, memos, summaries and general office communications
- Proficiency in Microsoft
Office applications (Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Access and
other database systems); Working knowledge of Internet/Intranet databases.
- Excellent interpersonal,
organizational and communication skills; ability to organize, perform
multiple tasks and to set priorities; exceptional customer
service/interpersonal skills
- Proven verbal and written
communication skills for internal and external communication; excellent
skills in written and spoken English; proven skills with exceptional
spelling and grammar required, with advanced editing and proofreading
skills.
