Director, Sponsored Projects Accounting, Office of
Sponsored Projects Administration (Job No. 7293)
The incumbent will be responsible for leading and managing post-award financial
management and compliance for sponsored projects across the entire University,
including the establishment and implementation of effective systems and
internal controls over all post-award sponsored project activity. These
tasks will be conducted in close collaboration with the Associate Vice
President for Research and the academic administration, particularly the
pre-award unit in the Office of Sponsored Projects Administration, the Office
of Grants and Contracts in the
REQUIREMENTS: Experience -- Requires at least eight
years of experience in financial reporting, sponsored projects compliance,
and/or audit. Preference for prior successful senior leadership experience in
sponsored projects compliance in a complex research-intensive institution.
Preference for experience in a private research university with an academic
medical center. Education/Licensing -- M.S., M.B.A. or CPA required.
Significant post-award compliance and management experience may be considered
in lieu of an advanced degree. Either bachelors or masters degree must be
in business administration or accounting. Essential Skills -- Commitment to
research excellence and growth in research funding. Understand and commit to
effective compliance with research regulations and restrictions. Thorough
knowledge of effective internal controls over grant compliance including
financial reporting, cost transfers, and effort reporting. Detailed
knowledge of federal/state/private sponsor regulations and procedures relating
to the post award administration of grants. Highly motivated with a
strong service orientation. Ability to work as part of the leadership team.
Must be an effective communicator and advocate exercising strong interpersonal
skills with the ability to bring people together to create solutions and to
forge a successful conclusion. Ability to organize and manage projects with a
focus on results and deadlines. Technical Skills -- Extensive knowledge of
current Federal regulations over research activities. Extensive knowledge
of effective methods of internal control over compliance with Federal
regulations over research activities. Familiarity with the
requirements and nuances of A-133 reporting. Familiarity with PeopleSoft
Financials a plus.
