To assist in the administration of sponsored projects in
accordance with federal, sponsor, Research Foundation, SUNY and campus
guidelines, support
investigators and others on campus in the administration and reporting of
research projects funded from extramural sources from account
establishment phase of a project through project close-out and required records
retention support.

Facilitate the operations of projects or
programs through administrative coordinating activities such as purchasing,
personnel, budget and financial reporting, and interaction with sponsor or
client.
· Assist in administration of grants by keeping faculty and project directors advised of policies and procedures in the areas of expenditure reporting, procurement of equipment and supplies, and employment recruitment and hiring, including affirmative action.
· Administer procedures that ensure efficient functioning of the project, and monitor reports and expenditures.
· Approves expenditures and disbursement of funds, authorize expenditures and transactions on a daily basis.

Assists in financial administration by performing accounting
related activities in areas such as purchasing, payroll, and accounts payable in
the Oracle environment and in keeping with appropriate OMB circulars, Research
Foundation regulations and SUNY policies.
· Aid in administration of approved grants by assisting faculty in such areas as expenditure reporting, procurement of equipment and supplies, and eventual grant termination.
· Provide guidance to research accounting managers and staff performing the majority of the day-to-day tasks related to grants administrative functions related to externally funded programs.
· Preparation and delivery of grants management workshops for faculty and research personnel.

Provide input to the establishment of related policies and
procedures.
·
Effectively communicate necessary information
to faculty and staff in managing and accounting for funding from grants and
contracts.

Preparation of sponsored research and fiscal
reports required by outside agencies
·
Ensure that
appropriate information is entered into the Research Foundation's computer
system.
·
Perform research, prepare and analyze complex issues as assigned;
make recommendations as appropriate.
·
Assist in
responding to audits by Research Foundation or federal or state
agencies.
·
Coordinate purchasing services through development of procedures
and forms and provide interpretation of policy. May conduct training sessions
for research community and employees.

Assist PI/PDs in varied administrative functions related to
externally funded programs.
· Reviews monthly fiscal and progress reports; maintains files.
·
Conduct training sessions for employees.
·
Produce activity reports and review monitoring reports to assure
processes are consistent with established
procedures.
·
Carry out staff assignments as
required.
·
May serve as office representative on Foundation, campus or
University-wide committees.
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the function managed; advanced degree or appropriate professional certification desirable; 3-5 years experience in grants management or public funds administration; professional certification in the form of a Certified Research Administrator’s designation (CRA) in good standing preferred. Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
