for whatever it's worth, i'm happy to share with you our experience at bar-ilan university, ramat gan, israel.

we've conducted small group seminars and workshops for postdocs and separately for faculty on a department by department basis. please note that the majority of our participants are hebrew speakers, and english is their second or third language.

our sessions focus on the basics (we do not present all the topics below in one session; and we usually are limited to one session for 90-minutes to two hours):

an overview of the research authority in both pre and post award stages of proposal and grant management.
a sample of funding opportunity sources applicable to the research fields and needs of the participants.
a discussion of typical sections of the proposal and their functions.
pitfalls to avoid and essentials to include in proposal writing.
how to understand and follow the proposal guidelines.
how to build a budget.
