Tom --

It depends on the nomination. If it is NEH, we actually have a subcommittee of the University Faculty that makes recommendations to the Dean of Arts and Humanities. He/she makes the decision. If it is in the Natural/Soc Sci/Phys Sci fields, the Dean of that Division makes a recommendation to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Final decision-making rests with the VPAA.

Tom,

At the institutions that I have previously worked, the Vice President of Research made the final decision.

How does your institution handle the process for selecting candidates for grant opportunities that require an intuitional nomination?
