Hi Mary,

It would be best to wait until the award comes through. You will then need to officially relinquish the award (the NIH has a form - PHS 3734) and the PI will need to re-submit the application with the new institution's information and approvals (as well as new budget info - personnel, overhead, etc.).

One of our PI's submitted a proposal to NIH and it looks like it's going to be awarded but he has recently informed us that he will be transferring to another university before the award comes from NIH - should we contact NIH now or wait until the award comes thru? I have left a voice mail for someone at NIH but they have not yet answered me and this PI is leaving the middle of August....Thanks in advance for any suggestions/advice.
