Florida Gulf Coast University seeks a full-time Pre-Award Grants Specialist who will be responsible for pre-award activities, to assist FGCU faculty and staff in the acquisition of funding from external sponsors in the form of contracts, grants, or cooperative agreements, and for the general operation of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. 

Responsibilities will include: 

Conducting funding opportunity searches for faculty and staff using InfoOffice tools, Foundation Center, Big On-Line Database, other web sources and funding source identification materials
Preparing ORSP monthly electronic newsletter and distribute
Assisting with proposal review and budget preparation to assure appropriate administrative and budget requirements are met
Preparing proposal packages for submission in accordance with specific agency requirements and guidelines
Being familiar with various funding agency rules and regulations as they pertain to grant/contract administration
Assisting in preparation of documents required for proposal submission
Submitting proposals through hard copy and through various electronic submission systems



Specialized Minimum Qualifications:  A high school diploma and five years of appropriate pre-award research administration experience.  Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree and two years of related pre-award research administration experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  Office computer applications including Windows, OUTLOOK, MS Word, Excel and FrontPage; excellent written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with submissions systems such as NSF FastLane, grants.gov, GMS, PHS 398; familiarity with  OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, and A-133; ability to work in team environment; self-motivated; sufficient maturity and judgment to work in highly sensitive situations within the context of external regulations, university policies, and legal constraints; and ability to direct faculty/staff to appropriate area for assistance.
