Our institution's rate changes four times over five years.  On hard copy submissions, we pro-rate the F&A based on the number of months the project will take place in each fiscal year.  We've created a template NIH Checklist with a notation indicating the proration.  The NIH has accepted this checklist since October, when our rate was re-negotiated.  Our fical year is also July to June.

I'm happy to provide a copy of the template in .pdf format to those who might find it useful, but when I tried to send it earlier, the email was returned.

Hope this helps.

Our University recently negotiated our new indirect cost rate which has one rate for fiscal year 2006-2007 and another for 2007-2008.  We operate on a July to June Fiscal year.  This is the first time we have had this problem and I was wondering how other Universities handle prorating their IC calculation on multi year budgets that cross over the fiscal years (i.e. October 1 to September 30)  and has anyone had a problem with this issue on a grants.gov budget submission?

After reading all the email on NIH AREA grants we are concerned if this pro-rated type of IC calculations will be possible.

Please feel free to respond directly to me at xxxxxx@hawaii.edu
