Maggie, thanks. It’s some comfort
to know we’re not the only office that struggles with this language.

Certification Regarding Material Support and Resources to Terrorists
Betty,
Nothing to forgive - welcome to "writing" land!
We, too, have seen these certifications creep into the award language. I have
not been able to get them removed. It's almost as though, if we did get them
removed, then we must be consorting with terrorists all over the place! So -
best we can do is to argue that, since we don't hand-hold our employees
24-hours a day, when folks are hired they are apprised of our Board of Regents'
policies and procedures and they agree to abide by them (ethics, conduct,
responsible research, etc.). Do they? We just have to have faith and hope so.

Dear RESADM-ers:
Forgive me as this is my first
posting. We have a subcontract under federal flow dollars from US Fish
and Wildlife to a prime organization. The subcontract contains a
certification that the university is ‘not providing support to
terrorists’ and that it ‘will implement reasonable monitoring and
oversight procedures to safeguard against assistance being diverted to support
terrorist activity.’
How are others handling this? We
asked for it to be removed, but of course, it HAS to be in there and EVERYONE
else agrees to it.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
