Working Title: Director, Office of Research Affairs

This position oversees the review and negotiation of all College of Medicine -Jacksonville (“COMJ”) research grants & contracts (over 200 annually, which total more than $6 million), including industry sponsored agreements, confidential disclosure agreements, federal grants & contracts, and their respective amendments /modifications, in accordance with UF policy.

Approves & signs proposals on behalf of the Dean.

Develops policy and long-term goals related to research administration for the COMJ campus.

Prepares special projects for the Senior Associate Dean at COMJ and the Sr. Associate Dean for Research.  Provides training to COMJ faculty and staff in many areas of research administration.

 
Serves as the approver for all purchases made from a UF research account by COMJ faculty or staff.

Assists COMJ faculty and staff in the development & preparation of research grant proposals, including budgets, appropriate language, etc.  This requires extensive knowledge of UF, state and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to extramural grants & contracts.  Serves as the liaison to federal, state, local and private research grant and contract sources to determine appropriate regulations regarding proposal preparation and management as well as serving as the liaison between the UF-Jacksonville research community and the Division of Sponsored Research in Gainesville.

Oversees and organizes the annual Research Day event and the three annual Dean’s Fund internal grant competitions.

Serves as a Department Security Administrator (to assign roles in PeopleSoft) for all COMJ Departments & Divisions, as it relates to research.  Additionally serves as a Directory Coordinator.

Supervises the daily activities of, and mentors, the Coordinator for Research Programs & Services and the Secretary.    Co-supervises the IRB (-03) Administrative Coordinator. 

Develops and oversees the office budget; serves as the time & labor approver for two FTE exempt employees, one non-exempt, and one OPS employee. 

Starting Salary Range-  $60,000- negotiable

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.
