Increase capacity at Grants.gov? Don’t hold your breath. One of our PIs just returned from a Grants.gov sponsored workshop where he was led to believe by the Grants.gov individual leading the workshop that he is to register himself, CCR and all, and then his research office will assign him the privilege to submit.

Subject: Re: [RESADM-L] collection
of tips and error fixes for grants.gov
Hi Dawn,
Those tips are everywhere, but most, and certainly the two referenced below,
are Grants.Gov Urban Legends whose sole purpose is to delude us into believing
that lack of capacity at Grants.Gov is somehow related to the number of cookies
stored on our computers. A couple other personal favorites are the instructions
to upload the proposal file from the desktop instead of the server, and to use
a desktop instead of laptop computer. Ho ho. The best "fix" is still
to submit days prior to the
published deadline. Of course, as more and more sponsors rely on grants.gov for
electronic proposal submission, this fix is going to fail as well.
I'm interested in hearing what is being done to increase CAPACITY at
grants.gov. If anybody has information about that, please share the (hopefully)
good news!

Folks,
I am pulling together a collection of tips and fixes for errors using
grants.gov. I was hoping to have folks send me some of their tricks that I can
coordinate and then eventually post for all.
I have some like cleaning the cookies and internet files when the error states
password wrong.
Does anyone want to share what they have or fixes that they were told.
Thanks
Dawn
