Morning, Ed.

Thompson Publishing Group has asked that the use all/some of my Symposium A-133 paper in their upcoming revisions of their instructional material.  I want to make sure that SRA is ok with this and I would also like to give SRA publication credit.  Any thoughts?

Marie

Subject: [RESADM-L] Call for POSTERS: SRA 2005 Symposium

Announcing this year's initiative for the publication and presentation of abstracts/posters for the Annual International Meeting of the Society of Research Administrators International being held October 16-19, 2005 in Milwaukee, WI.
Selections will be announced after the 2005 meeting with awards being presented at the 2006 Annual International Meeting in Quebec.
Submission, selection, publication, and consideration for award competition will be processed through a series of successive review and award panels under the leadership of the Symposium Chair/Program Director and Executive Staff.
Full Symposium directions and templates are to be found at: http://www.srainternational.org/NewWeb/meetings/annualmeeting/05/symposium/index.shtml
However, the following pertain specifically:
Regarding Abstracts-Posters:
A.  Topics: Topics for abstracts-posters must be directly related to the body of knowledge of research administration. Specific possibilities might be traditional theoretical topics of a research nature, case studies or summaries, reports of research administration successes or milestones, reports on innovative programs of operation etc. Entries may not be advertisements of institutions as would be more typical of vendor or institution exhibits. Poster-abstracts must be academic and/or professional in nature.
B.  Notices of Intent: Not later than September 9, 2005, colleagues can submit Notices Of Intent (NOI) by email to the Symposium Chair. Within the body of a text of an email, authors are required to submit a preliminary title, list of potential co-authors, and a brief summary of what is being proposed for poster presentation. NOI's will be reviewed by the Symposium Chair for selection. Criteria for preliminary selection will include whether the proposed abstract-poster concept is germane to research administration and consistent with the goals of the Symposium program. Specifically excluded from consideration are entries that seem to advertise or market an institution or its programs as opposed to the consideration of concepts, operations, or case studies etc. If selected, the Chair will send to the submitting author the Poster Abstract Template for completion. Directions for abstracts must be followed strictly including word limits.
C.  Abstract Submissions and Publication: Not later than September 19, 2005, authors approved through the Notice of Intent process must submit by email the completed poster abstract to the Symposium Chair. No abstracts will be accepted after that time. Completed abstracts will be reviewed by the Abstracts Review Panel for final acceptance. Criteria for selection will include relevance to the research administration body of knowledge, consistency with the goals of the Symposium, adherence to abstract submission standards etc. Unacceptable for approval would be entries that seem to advertise or market an institution or its programs as opposed to the consideration of concepts, operations, or case studies etc. Authors will be notified by email from the Symposium Chair of official acceptance immediately upon panel approval.
D.  Poster Preparations and Submissions: From abstract acceptance onward, authors are encouraged to work with the Symposium Posters Coordinator (see below) regarding potential concepts and plans for posters. Questions regarding poster format and production suggestions are to be directed to the Coordinator. Beginning on Sunday, October 16, 2005 but no later than the next morning at 8am, authors must display their posters on bulletin boards provided by the conference facility. Conference poster boards measure a maximum of 8 feet wide by 4 feet high. Poster displays must stay within those limits. Authors are to bring their own pushpins, etc. The text of an author's abstract must be displayed with the poster itself. To this end, the abstract may be placed directly into the poster (preferable) or placed adjacently in some fashion.
