Accountant II - Grants and Contracts Administration

Salary:            $2,896.00+ Monthly - Commensurate with experience

DUTIES:

Responsible for ensuring compliance with grant and contract requirements on state, federal and private grants and contracts. Provide technical support for principal investigators, funding sources and University administrative offices in the management  of externally funded grants and contracts.  Guides the management of project financial activities.  Keeps and reconciles financial records.  Participates in site visits and audits. Conducts Training for University Staff.

To provide technical support for principal investigators, funding sources, and University administrative offices in the management of externally funded grants and contracts.  Interpret financial systems, responsible for contract and budget analysis, and audit grants to ensure that guidelines are adhered to.  Operate and analyze programs on a PC and mainframe system.

Required:

·         Knowledge of:   applicable federal regulations (such as OMB A-21, A-110, A-133, and FAR), applicable state regulations, and various funding source requirements (such as NIH, NSF, and NEH); accounting and auditing standards (such as GASB and GAAS).

·         Skills in:  contract review; budget review & compliance; oral & written communications; PC & mainframe computer systems; interpersonal & problem-solving.

·         Ability to:  conduct training sessions; develop training materials;

·         Bachelor’s degree

·         Ability to work effectively as a team player with faculty, students, and leaders at Texas State and other educational agencies and institutions.

 

Preferred:

·         Experience in administration of post-award grants/contracts functions

·         Knowledge of NACUBO guidelines

·         State of Texas experience in a major accounting/finance functional area

·         State of Texas experience in a public institution of higher education

·         Research administration in an institution of higher education

·         Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or finance

 

Some evening and week-end hours are necessary, with significant amounts during August through September for year-end close and beginning of the new fiscal year.  This is a security sensitive position and a criminal history check will be performed on the selected candidate.
