Pre-Award Grants Manager for Research and Sponsored
Programs
The Position
This individual will be responsible for assisting the Director in
facilitating and enhancing faculty and staff performance related to funding for
research and educational service by managing information resources, conducting
seminars and workshops, identifying grant opportunities, and assisting with
proposal development and quality review of
proposals.
Further, this individual will be responsible for: (1) assisting the
Director in creating and maintaining Institutional policies and procedures
related to research and sponsored programs; (2) acting as the office
representative with other University departments; (3) coordinating the
activities of the NSU Research Council, as well as administration of the
Research Council’s seed grant and mini-grant programs; (4) supporting the
activities of committees for the protection of research subjects, patents and
copyright, hazardous materials, and other campus-wide groups; (5) preparing ORSP
publications and announcements; (6) ensuring compliance with both sponsor, State
and University guidelines for proposals; and (7) developing and stewarding
relevant innovative technologies and practices
institution-wide.
Northwestern State University is seeking an individual with demonstrated
success in the full range of pre-award, and some
post-award, activities, including experience working with investigators from the
sciences to the humanities; conducting faculty/professional-level workshops and
training programs; knowledge of
funding agencies, including policies, procedures, and regulations; strong
oral, written, and critical thinking skills, and demonstrated interpersonal and
communication abilities. Preference
will be given to persons with experience with electronic research administration
tools (online databases, Fastlane and other submission facilities, Internet
resources, spreadsheets, complex databases and website development); and active
participation in professional organizations, including presentations and
workshops.
This position reports to the Director and Associate Director of Research
and Sponsored Programs. The
appointment will be as professional staff with overall pre-award
proposal-support responsibilities.
A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field is required.
