DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH INFORMATION SYSTEMS

This newly created position within the Office of Research will provide leadership of Northwestern University�s increased commitment to research information systems and infrastructure.    

The Director of Research Information Systems will be responsible for the strategic development, alignment and management of technology and information systems that facilitate the overall support, management and administration of research activities at the University.  With knowledge of both technology and research administration and a cross-functional perspective, you will be responsible for aligning the Office of Research�s technology deployment strategy with its business strategy.  You will also ensure the ongoing quality of information technology used to support research administration at Northwestern University and work closely with central Information Technology to ensure that Office of Research systems are well integrated with the University-wide information technology systems and that the greater University technology needs are considered. 
 
The ideal candidate must have an undergraduate degree, advanced degree preferred, and solid knowledge of business or research administration, management and information systems, gained through specific education and relevant work experience.  Knowledge about information technology with the ability to be creative in utilizing it to lead a staff to technical solutions is imperative, as well as strong experience managing software development projects. Excellent organization, management and communication skills required. Must also possess demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance workloads, and shift resources as needed to meet the demands of multiple constituencies and meet deadlines, as well as excellent skills in planning, budgeting and data analysis.
