Director for the Office for the Protection of Research Subjects needed. Position has been revised to meet the growing needs of the Office.
CPS Inc/Lab Division, is a recruiting agency with more than 30 years of experience. We have been retained to recruit and place the Director of OPRS. To meet the needs of the rapidly expanding Center for Comparative Medicine, and the Department of Research ,this position is within the Department of Research at Northwestern University in beautiful downtown Chicago, Illinois.
The Director of the Office for The Protection of Research Subjects is responsible for providing operational oversight and management of the protection of research subjects, both Human, and animal subjects; identifying ways to improve services for Investigators and evaluation of current practices; providing direction and consultation to investigators regarding current issues and ethical concerns associated with the implementation of regulations, policies, and procedures; ensuring that the University is in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws pertaining to the use of animal and human research subjects; overseeing the development of training the OPRS Staff, and to investigators, assisting in the development of OPRS stategic, and financial planning, and develop and manage the OPRS budget.

BS science required, Ph.D., M.D., L.L.D.,or J.D. preferred, 5+ years in human Clinical Research regulatory arena, IRB supervision, operational management, budgetary oversight, and demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations/compliance (FDA, USDA, HHS, OHRP,and ORI) governing the participation of human and animal research subjects.

A dynamic and strong manager of people is required, as this position will indirectly supervise up to 25 others in the department. Will directly supervise the Associate Director of IACUC, the Associate Director for Quality Assurance and Training, Assistant Director of IRB Coordination, Senior IRB Coordinators, and an office administrator, and will report to the Associate VP of Research.
