Additional Information:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience
negotiating, preparing and processing grant and contract proposals.
(High school graduation or GED requires four more years of the
experience above. Fifteen undergraduate hours substitute for six
months of experience, up to three and one-half years.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: More than three years of experience in
pre-award grants and contracts management. Demonstrated knowledge of
federal grant or contract management. Demonstrated excellent
interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of and
experience with computers.
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: To assist University research community in
contractual matters relating to the preparation, submission, and
negotiation of research proposals.
FUNCTIONS: ESSENTIAL: Assists faculty
members and other University research staff in the preparation &
submission of research proposals in paper & electronic form to
prospective sponsoring agencies by evaluating budgets & reviewing
other administrative information to ensure that both sponsor &
University policies & procedures are met. Reviews the terms &
conditions (grant/contract clauses) of solicitations from sponsors to
ensure that the clauses in the resulting awards are acceptable to the
University. Reviews and negotiates grant and agreement awards made to
the University. Additional functions as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER INFORMATION:
* EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS USED: Continuous: Macintosh PC, writing
materials, paper and telephone. Frequent: printer, copier, FAX machine
and
ten-key calculator. Occasional: scissors.
* PHYSICAL TASKS: Continuous: talking, listening, reading and viewing.
Frequent: sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling,
use of
manual dexterity, extending of arms, stooping and climbing of
stairs.
* ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Continuous: indoor activity and exposure to
fluorescent light. Frequent: exposure to book dust and mold.
* OTHER WORKING CONDITIONS: Continuous: work as a team member,
independently and in busy work area; professional demeanor,
self-reliance, resourcefulness, wear appropriate office attire and
accept supervision. Frequent: work under stress, under pressure of
deadlines, with overlapping projects, long hours during peak periods,
in shared office space, with large numbers of people and with peers,
clients, and management; work in a dynamic, multi-tasked environment,
have direct customer contact and communicate effectively with diverse
groups. Occasional: weekend, overtime, evening and holiday work; work
without day-to-day supervision and with sensitive and confidential
information.
Position is located in Austin, Texas. Regular and punctual attendance
at the workplace. Security sensitive; conviction verification
conducted on applicant selected.
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at
least 135
days in length.
