Appropriate college course work may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in fund accounting, general ledger reconciliation and preparation of financial statements as they relate to contracts & grants administration. SAMAS experience. SPECIAL POSITION NOTES: Funding is contingent on appropriations through Sponsored Research Programs on an annual basis with anticipated refunding each year. The anticipated start date for this position is March 2000. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Reports to the Assistant Controller. Monitors all financial aspects of sponsored research/contracts and grants, which include, but are not limited to budgets, revenues, expenses, and cash balances. Monitors federal draw downs, cash management and investments as it relates to sponsored research/contracts and grants. Prepares and executes project financial statements, reports, and other documents relating to sponsored research/contracts and grants. Reconciles the State Appropriations to contract and grant ledgers. Provides the technical fiscal assistance and control needed for the smooth, efficient operations of sponsored research/contracts and grants. Familiarity with and communication of federal, state, and other regulations related to management of sponsored research/contracts and grants to affected project directors, supervising administrators, and resource development officers. Coordinates the prompt and accurate billing, recording and reporting of sponsored research/contracts and grants revenue. Assists in the development of a policies and procedures document relating to sponsored research/contracts and grants. Conducts in-service financial management workshops for project directors and their staff. Coordinates audit monitoring visits of funding agencies. Maintains the official fiscal file of record for all sponsored research/contracts and grants. Assists in the calculation of the Indirect cost rate. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to effectively work with minimal supervision; experience with personal computer and software applications; ability to formulate analytical, statistical reports. Knowledge of effective decision-making and problem-solving techniques. Knowledge of University rules, policies, and procedures.
