At our institution, once an award is made, the cost-share dollars
must be provided. So if the PI doesn’t hire that position, your institution would have to find other cost-share dollars to meet the obligation to the sponsor.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Cost Share
Good afternoon everyone,
How are you addressing voluntary committed cost share once awarded for To Be Named positions with sponsors? Example, a PI puts a cost share TBN in a budget with a dollar commitment to a federal
sponsor and the PI never hires for the position. In that instance, does the dollar amount of that TBN commitment still need to be satisfied?
I appreciate your time in responding.
Thanks,
Saundra
