Documentation of Indirect Costs for Small Business Marcia Groover 08 Nov 1999 10:13 EST

As we know, the current maximum NSF consulting rate is $453.00 per day
(exclusive of indirect cost, travel, per diem, clerical services, fringe
benefits and supplies) as specified in Article 6 of GC-1.

With individual consultants or those associated with a small business, I
have found that they don't understand the need for an "overhead rate" or
"indirect cost rate" so that I may justify applying more than the $453
per day to an NSF award.

How does your institution deal with this issue?

Am I missing something out there for those small businesses or
individuals who want to do business with the federal government which
requires them to file and update this information on some regular
schedule?
