POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY
SPONSORED PROGRAMS COORDINATOR

Western Kentucky University, with a student population of 15,000, a regular
faculty of 550, and a staff of 1,000, has a new position for a Sponsored
Programs Coordinator in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) in an excellent
culture for extramural funding. This pivotal position coordinates pre- and
post-award matters through closeout of awards, and assists with grant and
contract compliance according to sponsor and university requirements, and in
collaboration with the OSP and grants and contracts accounting staff.
Specific responsibilities include interaction with the director and area
coordinators for data analysis and preparation of reports, proposal
development, processing agreements, internal and external award coordination,
charts of accounts, closeouts, budget modifications, workshops, and tracking
post-award expenditures.  The position reports to the Director, OSP.

Qualified applicants should have at least 3-5 years sponsored programs or
related administrative experience preferably in a university or granting
agency.  A graduate degree is required.  Demonstrated understanding of the
grant cycle is essential.  Applicants must demonstrate familiarity with
electronic research administration techniques and compliance documents.
Evidence of successful interaction with colleagues and clientele is required.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to work on multiple projects
with minimal supervision in a time sensitive environment.  This candidate will
possess excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, and
the ability to work with a sense of humor in a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated participation in professional development activities and the
desire for professional development are essential.
