The Cal State L.A. Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP)
assists faculty and staff in applying for extramural funding for
professional development, student support, and University advancement in
such areas as:  research, training, curriculum development, release
time, travel, outreach to the community, publications, conferences,
meetings, upgraded library holdings, equipment, and facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 The Application/Information Analyst reports to the
Associate Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs
(ORSP) and will work as an integral part of the ORSP team.  The
successful candidate will assume responsibilities for information
systems and database management; use the Internet; develop internal and
external research information sources; and be capable of implementing a
total Electronic Research Administration (ERA) environment.  The
successful candidate will establish and maintain pre-award database and
produce reports, support grant proposal preparation, access and query
federal agencies and commercial funding sources; network with campus IS
professionals; and interact with faculty.  Other duties include
anticipating computer related innovations, training staff in software
applications,  database capabilities, and  graphics.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 CIS degree or certificate with one-two years experience in
similar work demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility; ability
to work independently.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

 The successful candidate must have broad knowledge in
database, graphics, and spreadsheet applications; familiarity with ERA;
work autonomously, possess strong analytical, organizational and
planning skills.  The candidate must have knowledge of database use and
management; web page design and maintenance; Internet skills such as
HTML, FTP, Gopher and e-mail; experience preferred in grant proposal
development processes, and Federal government solicitation process. This
position requires strong communication skills, verbal and written, and
excellent interpersonal skills.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 This is a full-time, exempt position, eligible for
excellent benefits after successful completion of an introductory
period, with an annual salary in the mid-30's, depending on
qualifications.
