I've found the following sources useful as well:

Larry M. Dooley "Barriers and Inducements to Grant-Related Activity by a College of Education Faculty", Research Management Review, Vol. 7, No.2 (Spring 1995).

Martin Grabois and Marcus Fuhrer, "Physiatrists' Views in Research", American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, 67 (4) 1988.

You might want to contact the University of Southern Mississippi and ask for a copy of their own survey on Research/Creative Attitude and Support and another survey conducted by the Mississippi Research Consortium Research Environment -- both in, I believe, 1997.

Also, Central Michigan University used to have a Colleague Assistance Program run by their Office of Research and Sponsored Programs that was interesting. You might want to inquire with them.

Good luck! I'd be interested in hearing about your Investigator Incentive Program when you get it set up.
