Position Announcement:  Coordinator, Research
Programs/Services

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking a dynamic individual to
coordinate research programs and services for the Office of Sponsored
Research (OSR).  The position reports directly to the Director and/or
Associate Director of OSR.  The University of Central Florida receives
over 33 million in annual sponsored research funding, and is home to the
Institute for Simulation and Training (IST), the Center for Research and
Education in Optics and Lasers (CREOL), and the Florida Solar Energy
Center (FSEC).  UCF serves over 29,000 students and is located in
beautiful Orlando, Florida.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization, or a bachelor's
degree and two years of appropriate experience in a University
Sponsored Research environment.  Knowledge of legal terminology and
contracts and the ability to draft contract documents preferred.  Strong
personnel and communication skills, along with strong negotiation skills
necessary.  Above average computer skills, with a working knowledge
of database, spreadsheet and word-processing programs, to include
Internet access and retrieval.

Position Description:

Reviews research proposals for budget accuracy and agency guideline
requirements.  Coordinates proposal process with faculty and
department administrators.  Reviews Federal, state, and private industry
research contracts, and negotiates legal changes when appropriate.
Authorizes the establishment of contract and grant accounts with
appropriate spending authorization.  Drafts, negotiates, and places
sub-contract agreements.  Assists faculty in meeting administrative
contract and grant requirements (e.g., budgeting, technical reporting,
equipment purchases/inventory).  Acts as liaison between faculty and
the funding agency.  Maintains contract and grant administrative
compliance requirements.  Maintains audit trail of contract and grant
documentation to include program deliverables.  Insures contract and
grant accounts are administratively closed after completion of project.
Manages Team's sponsored research activity to include supervision of
Proposal and Fiscal Administrators, and a Contract Assistant. Serves as
senior advisor to other contract managers and staff.  Oversees Team's
contract and grant expenditure review process and coordinates
expenditure review with other processing departments as needed.
Assumes the lead role in the orientation of Team's new faculty and other
Office of Sponsored Research training programs.  Has signature
authority in the absence of the Director and Associate Director.

Salary: $22,542 - $40,596 Commensurate with experience.
