The National Science Foundation just issued an Iniative Announcement
(NSF 98-20) for research in molecular nanotechnology. It begins, "Four
Directorates of the National Science Foundation (NSF) announce a
collaborative initiative on research in nanotechnology, with a focus on
functional nanostructures. The goal of the initiative is to catalyze
synergistic, small-group, interdisciplinary, science and engineering
research in emerging areas of nanotechnology, by combining resources
from the participating programs to support coordinated research
activities."

If any of your institutions are interested in proposing but need to
partner with a small-business or individual with ties to the
nanotechnology community, please email me at xxxxxx@moon.jic.com and I
will try to put you in touch with someone. This is in no way connected
with Georgetown -- in my "spare time" I am a Senior Associate in the
Foresight Institute (www.foresight.org) and I have an interest in
fostering nanotechnology research.
