CONTRACT AND GRANT OFFICER
Major Duties
-------------
Serve as one of four senior professionals with delegated authority to
submit contract and grant proposals and negotiate, review, and approve
contract and grant awards on behalf the University.  Serve as part of the
team responsible for the review and submission of approximately $300M of
proposals for research, public service and training projects and the
negotiation and acceptance of $90M of resulting awards annually.  Serve as
liaison between faculty, academic departments and organized research units,
campus administrative units, and a wide variety of federal, state, local
and private funding agencies, ensuring compliance with campus, university,
federal and agency regulations, policies, procedures, forms and guidelines
for the conduct of research. Write and negotiate subcontracts.  Assist in
campus training activities and re-engineering efforts to move towards
electronic research administration.  This position reports to the Assistant
Manager and supervises one full time contract and grant assistant.

Minimimum Requirements
-----------------------
Knowledge of federal regulations related to research administration,
including OMB A-21, OMB A-110, Federal Acquisition Requlations and major
federal funding agency guidelines.  Knowledge of university and policies
and procedures related to the conduct of research strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to to review and interpret policies and procedures
involving complex problems requiring substantial independent judgement.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with agency personnel, faculty,
campus staff, and co-workers in situations involving competing opinions,
significant deadline pressure, and multiple competing tasks.  Willingness
to work in a rapidly changing environment.  Solid working knowledge of
PC-based computing applications in the networked computing environment.
Must be willing to tolerate gorgeous mountain views and sandy beaches
within walking distance.

Salary
-------
The salary range for this position is $40,300 - $60,400 per year.  The
hiring range is $40,300 - $50,300 per year.   An impressive benefits
package (in addition to the beach and the mountains) is provided.
