DoD required registration Charles E. Graham, Ph.D. 13 Mar 1997 17:26 EST

Just received a letter from the Undersecretary, DoD, saying that all
contractors who want to receive solicitations, awards and payments must
register (by filling out several pages of forms) for the Central Contractor
Registration Center. Acxtually this is a requirement specifically of the
Defense Finance and Accounting, and Director, Defense Procurement.

This looks like creation of a centralized database and preparation for EDI
(they ask if the institution is EDI ready). More info is available from
http://www.acq.osd.mil/ec and you can register on line there.

My impression is that Universities are going to have to do this. Any
other opinions out there? Maybe it only applies to CBD procurements. Any
ideas?

Charlie.
