I would like the groups help on an answer to the following:

 We have a PI who will be leaving our institution to go to a for-profit
 orangization.  The PI has a non-Federal grant in which the agency's
 policy will not transfer to an equally qualified alternate PI.

 The question:  Has anyone had a situation in which they offered and/or
 let the PI have a joint appointment in order for the grant to stay in
 effect until the research is completed which is less than a year?
 Are there any problems with this joint appointment?  What else should
 we consider?
