Supplementary Funding for Sponsored Programs Offices William Schulze 20 Aug 1996 10:26 EST

For sponsored programs offices faced with scarce funding and
staff cutbacks, finding ways to bring in a few extra dollars
or receive donated services can help maintain office
productivity. Within this context, I have a mission to put
together a session at an up-coming meeting on the ways
(hopefully many) in which offices of sponsored programs
supplement their operating funds or receive in-kind goods
 and services.

We ask you to share any techniques, projects, or services
which generate income (any amount) or otherwise bring added
value to the resources of your office. These things may be
internal or external to the institution and produce either
cash or in-kind income. Examples: income-producing
 workshops; community-based consulting/services/newsletters;
office administered sponsored projects (internal grants,
systemic improvement grants, etc.); use of student
interns/class projects; quid pro quo; etc. We especially
are interested in anything others may adopt or adapt to
 enhance their offices' resources.

Please explain in sufficient detail what you do and how it
works. If it is more convenient, just provide a summary and
include your name and phone number, so we can call & fill in
the details. Too, please fax or mail us any supporting
materials you feel may be of interest. If you wish your
response to remain anonymous, we will be pleased to keep it
 so.

To avoid clogging the bulletin board, please send your
responses and/or requests for a copy of the results directly
 to me (address below).

The results will be the subject of a session at this fall's
AASCU/Office of Federal Programs Liaison Officers' Meeting
(1st week in October). After the meeting I will post a
summary of the results and will be pleased to send a more
detailed report to anyone who requests it.

 Thanks for your help.
